Commission mechanics — how Earnr payments work

The 2-year per-referral clock

Day 0 — Your friend signs up

Their 2-year commission clock starts. This is independent of when you became an Earnr.

Day 30 — Trial ends, they subscribe

Commission begins accruing from their first paid month. Paid to you monthly.

Month 12 — Year 1 complete

You've earned £42 (at blended avg £35/mo × 10%) from this one referral.

Month 24 — Commission window closes

Commission stops on this referral. Total earned: £84 over 2 years (blended avg). New referrals each have their own 2-year window.

Month 25+ — Customer stays with £arnd

They continue as a customer but commission no longer applies (unless Corporate Earnr tier).

Commission adjusts automatically if a referred customer changes tier. If they upgrade from Starter to Standard, your monthly commission increases from £1.50 to £4.00 from that month forward.

The retroactive lump sum — explained

When you make your 5th referral and become an Earnr, £arnd calculates how much commission you would have earned on referrals 1–4 from their signup date to today — and pays it as a one-off lump sum.

Example: Referrals 1–4 each signed up 3 months ago at Standard (£40/mo).
Lump sum = 4 clients × 3 months × £4.00 = £48

The earlier your referrals signed up, the larger the lump sum.

Earnr status is permanent once achieved. You do not lose it if referrals lapse or cancel their subscriptions.

Commission only flows from active subscribers. If a referred customer cancels, their commission stops. It resumes if they resubscribe (within the 2-year window).

Timeouts, expiry & edge cases

Commission expiry rules

2-year window — per referral, not per tier upgrade

Each referred customer has their own independent 2-year clock starting from their signup date. Becoming an Earnr later does not reset or shorten anyone's clock.

Referred customer cancels subscription

Commission pauses. If they resubscribe within the 2-year window, commission resumes for the remaining time.

Referred customer downgrades tier

Commission reduces to reflect the lower tier value. Adjusts in the next monthly payment cycle.

Referred customer upgrades tier

Commission increases to reflect the higher tier value from that month onward.

After 2 years — commission ends on that referral

Customer continues with £arnd but commission is no longer generated. New referrals made after this point start fresh 2-year windows.

What counts as a valid referral?

Friend signs up via your unique link or QR code, completes the 30-day trial, and starts a paid subscription.

✗

Trial sign-ups that don't convert to a paid plan do not count toward your referral total or commission.
